Meryl Johnson received her Bachelor’s degree from Kent State University and her Masters degree from Cleveland State University. She taught in Cleveland schools for 40 years and was in leadership of the Cleveland Teachers Union for 26  years. Because she believes  in the student voice, she taught students how to advocate for fair school funding for public education.   Ms. Johnson was elected to the State Board of Education in 2016 and re-elected in 2020.  She hosts a weekly radio show called It’s About Justice which airs on Saturdays at 1:00 p.m.  on WRUW FM 91.1.  Listen online at wruw.org.
